Soleras Expands Capability for Casting Reactive Alloys

Soleras Advanced Coatings announces the continued expansion of casting capability at their US manufacturing plant in Biddeford, Maine. Soleras has developed a novel caster technology for safely handling the manufacture of large reactive metal targets. The unit is capable of producing castings over three meters in length and utilizes a novel processing technique which yields ultra-high purity targets with uniform microstructure and tight compositional control.

“With this expansion, Soleras now has the capability to process very large planar lithium, zinc, indium, alkali metals and their alloys,” said Jai Subramanian, Global Business Director of the Sputter Target Business, “This shows Soleras Advanced Coatings unique ability to extend our equipment and processing solution to meet the growing needs or our customers and our continued commitment to be the leaders in innovation for producing target technology for large area glass coatings.”

Soleras Advanced Coatings is a leading global provider of advanced materials and solutions used in the deposition of thin film coatings. Soleras’ products are used in a wide variety of applications including low energy efficient architectural and automotive glass, electrochromic windows, displays, consumer electronics and solar PV panels.
